Durval Tande showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Samuel Tasso might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gustavo Gitano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Samuel Tasso ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Durval Tande got free with Gustavo Gitano in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the game, Cleto Solustiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Serbia y Mantonegro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C.Pelotas the free kick. In the 90th minute of the match Serbia y Mantonegro got a corner. E.C.Pelotas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cleto Solustiano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Samuel Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Gitano having to interfere. When the match was over Serbia y Mantonegro could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than E.C.Pelotas throughout the match.
