After some careless play in the Nova Iguaçu MZFC defense, Ladislao Cutberto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ismael Pereira. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ismael Pereira should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Ladislao Cutberto took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Ismael Pereira to make any attempt to save it. In the 18th minute, Ian de Godoi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Faustino Azevedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 21 minutes into the match, Azulgranas AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Falcão came free, but Faustino Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 26 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Mauro de Salles. Faustino Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ian de Godoi's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Ismael Pereira made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Lorenzo Pirro sent off a good shot on target. Ian de Godoi scored 2-2 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Faustino Azevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's attentive Carlos Fernando Bertassi managed to snatch the ball when Tomás Frasco made a throw-in in the 41st minute of the game. Azulgranas AFC were awarded a corner in the 46th minute after Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lorenzo Pirro took the corner. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Tomás Frasco made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Tomás Frasco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Azulgranas AFC were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lorenzo Pirro took the corner. After taking down the ball on Azulgranas AFC's corner Lorenzo Pirro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ismael Pereira quite easily take care of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ian de Godoi in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Faustino Azevedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ian de Godoi got free with Faustino Azevedo in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an all-out effort, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Faustino Azevedo threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dito Velloso, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ian de Godoi in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Faustino Azevedo saved Azulgranas AFC from getting behind. Faustino Azevedo stood somewhat misplaced when Ian de Godoi came free in front of goal and shot 2-3 to the left of him in the 65 minute. Ismael Pereira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Cutberto in the 68th minute of the match.
