Spectators: 7522 (Terracing: 5642, Seating: 1730, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sergio Caitano started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute, Sergio Caitano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pepe Santoro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Pepe Santoro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sergio Caitano's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Uriel Raymon made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Boni Yarman sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Velez Sarsfield's Uriel Raymon got control of the ball when Higinio Barros tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Luis Advíncula hit a great ball. INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's Pepe Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Caitano in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Melchor Birila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Advíncula didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pepe Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benicio Danel in the 26th minute of play. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Caitano, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. The shot was stopped by Uriel Raymon but with some difficulty. If Melchor Birila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uriel Raymon was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Luis Advíncula capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luis Advíncula really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 44 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boni Yarman. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergio Caitano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Boni Yarman to make the kick off. Nestor Rami fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Santoro having to interfere. Uriel Raymon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's Pepe Santoro got control of the ball when Melchor Birila tried to sneak it across the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB had played much better football throughout.
