Ukko Niemi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Markus Laakso came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Manchester United FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Markus Laakso couldn't finish the play. Carlos Loureiros short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Ukko Niemi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
53 minutes into the match, Tirant lo Blanch's Carlos Loureiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ukko Niemi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tirant lo Blanch's goalkeeper Ding Kahn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 59 minutes into the game, Tirant lo Blanch's Carlos Loureiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. With an all-out effort, Manchester United FC's Ding Kahn threw himself towards the right post 74 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Erik Cantona, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ukko Niemi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Loureiro went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. 81 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Loureiro came free, but Ukko Niemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manchester United FC's Ukko Niemi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Loureiro in the 90th minute of play. The corner led Tirant lo Blanch's Paco Camarasa to fire away a dangerous shot which Ukko Niemi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 94th minute, Jakob Stam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Lobo Diarte came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Tirant lo Blanch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lobo Diarte couldn't finish the play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Manchester United FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tirant lo Blanch.
