FC Nordsjælland's Andreas Gulstorff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sindre Westerlund in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute Steve Triganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andreas Gulstorff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andreas Gulstorff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steve Triganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute, Kent Remme left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AEK FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, FC Nordsjælland's goalkeeper Andreas Gulstorff had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erland Slyngstad. The supporters of FC Nordsjælland booed when AEK FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Fredriksson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dimitar Berbatov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Kenneth Knudsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kent Remme in the 21st minute of play forced FC Nordsjælland's goalkeeper Andreas Gulstorff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andreas Gulstorff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve Triganza in the 29th minute of play. Erland Slyngstad hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kent Remme got free with Andreas Gulstorff in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dimitar Berbatov struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Kenneth Knudsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Nordsjælland. After 47 minutes of play, AEK FC's Steve Triganza made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andreas Gulstorff was left in no man's land by his defense there! The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The coaching staff of AEK FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Christian Dørum had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to AEK FC getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Christian Dørum hit a great ball. AEK FC's Kenneth Knudsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save AEK FC from getting a goal against them. FC Nordsjælland:s Andreas Gulstorff showed great skill when he stopped Sindre Westerlund:s penalty. Kenneth Knudsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dimitar Berbatov in the 97th minute of play. In the 98th minute Erland Slyngstad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andreas Gulstorff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
