The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dolf Rouckeloos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Dziura in the 4th minute of play. In the 13th match minute, Zagórna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Radomil Zbydniowski to maneuver through the defense. Brugge United's Timmy Simons got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 19th minute Pacho Carabajal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobiasz Boruta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Pacho Carabajal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brugge United's supporters rose to their feet, but Pacho Carabajal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tobiasz Boruta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Dziura came free, but Dolf Rouckeloos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Dziura in the 46th minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Dolf Rouckeloos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The Brugge United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Zagórna had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
