The Portus Ganda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerrit Diependaele should have stopped the shot. 85 minutes into the game, one of Portus Ganda:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Gerrit Diependaele, was totally fooled by Newcastle United's Lech Wierzbicki, who 87 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 90th minute, Barnaba Borcz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerrit Diependaele was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-13. If Rolf Stevens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Newcastle United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
