The crowd rose to their feet as Diamantino Tande kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Poulus Farias. That made the score 1-0 in the 43 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tamariz Gallardo made a kick off. Serginho do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. He was immediately shown a red card. 94 minutes into the game, one of POPULAR F.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Emílio Messias, was totally fooled by RKO AFC's Adalberto Pellegri, who 98 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. POPULAR F.C's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
