The audience was convinced that Márcio Linhares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Federico Marsilio was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. 5 minutes into the match, Gonzo Style f.c's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Gentil came free, but Federico Marsilio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Federico Marsilio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Gentil, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Federico Marsilio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hamilton Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 19 minutes, Augusto Vieri mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gonzo Style f.c and the Sport Lisboa e Benfica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Augusto Vieri hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Hamilton Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Federico Marsilio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Márcio Linhares might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Federico Marsilio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Márcio Linhares ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpected shot in the 31st minute by Flavio De Matteis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fulvio Chiavetta during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 43 minutes into the game, Claudio Pompilio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gonzo Style f.c's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Lisboa e Benfica the free kick. In the 43rd minute, Claudio Pompilio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Augusto Vieri made the kick off in the second half. Federico Marsilio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márcio Linhares in the 56th minute of the match. Federico Marsilio came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Márcio Linhares. But to his dismay, Márcio Linhares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavio De Matteis in the 70th minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Valentim Palha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Claudio Pompilio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Norberto Bernardes was substituted for Sílvio Cruz. Márcio Linhares struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Federico Marsilio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Damiano Mian hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Federico Marsilio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Gentil in the 89th minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Norberto Bernardes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Sport Lisboa e Benfica could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gonzo Style f.c throughout the match.
