Esteban Pérez hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Águila's Cristian Santana got a free kick in the 4th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Barros in the 6th minute of play forced Club Deportivo Águila's goalkeeper Ricardo Peña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Club Deportivo Águila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Portillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Peña made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abel Iban in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Águila's goalkeeper Ricardo Peña had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgard Barros. In the 23rd match minute, Club Deportivo Águila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Galeas to maneuver through the defense. Abel Iban fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Peña having to interfere. 26 minutes into the game, Club Atlético Atlanta's Edgard Barros nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Peña made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 28th minute, Club Atlético Atlanta's Edgard Barros ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ricardo Peña. Ricardo Peña yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Águila's Esteban Pérez got a free kick in the 31st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportivo Águila's zone, Ciro Ferdinand stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Peña came out of the goal and Ciro Ferdinand tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 33 played minutes Club Deportivo Águila got a freekick which was hit by Elias Portillo. After 37 minutes of play, Club Atlético Atlanta's Abel Iban made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Peña was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edgard Barros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Peña having to make a save. In the 44th match minute, Club Deportivo Águila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Santana to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgard Barros was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Club Deportivo Águila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Pineda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club Atlético Atlanta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ciro Ferdinand in the 63rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Ciro Ferdinand got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ricardo Peña quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 65thth minute of the game Alberto Pineda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abel Iban in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Peña prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 73rd minute, Fabio Artaldo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgard Barros in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Peña saved Club Deportivo Águila from getting behind. Edgard Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the game, Club Atlético Atlanta's Edgard Barros nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Peña made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Edgard Barros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgard Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ricardo Peña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Peña came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Atlanta's Edgard Barros. But to his dismay, Edgard Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. 8-0 became the score in the 96th minute when Edgard Barros elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.
