But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glauco Macedo couldn't finish the play. In the 5th match minute, Mexilhão F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Pitta to maneuver through the defense. FLACONQUISTA's Glauco Macedo got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Eliézer Terra got a free kick in the 9th minute. After some careless play in the Mexilhão F. C. defense, Glauco Macedo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nuno Donatello. The Mexilhão F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuno Donatello should have stopped the shot. 22 minutes into the match, FLACONQUISTA's Cleiton Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nuno Donatello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Macedo in the 28th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Nuno Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cleiton Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Nuno Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vágner Custódio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Felippe Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathias Mangueira having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Cleiton Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nuno Donatello was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Reinaldo Penha's late challenge caught a FLACONQUISTA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reinaldo Penha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute, Cleiton Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glauco Macedo took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nuno Donatello. Nuno Donatello dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Mexilhão F. C.'s zone, Cleiton Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno Donatello came out of the goal and Cleiton Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Glauco Macedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Reinaldo Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathias Mangueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felippe Mineiro in the 90th minute of the match. After 92 played minutes Mexilhão F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Juarês Teles. FLACONQUISTA played a much better game than Mexilhão F. C. and deserved their victory. The Mexilhão F. C. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
