The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Adam Negrilă's late challenge caught a Oldham Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adam Negrilă helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, FC Cosula-BTF-'s Adam Negrilă got a free kick in the 18th minute. David Lindmark took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Basarab Secoşan. Basarab Secoşan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. FC Cosula-BTF-'s Sever Mărăscu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ulf Kielberg, made in the 26th minute of the game. In the 29th minute, Bogdan Paveliuc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 31 minutes into the game, FC Cosula-BTF-'s Bogdan Paveliuc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thor Persson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 35 minutes, Irinel Irimescu mouthed his way into the referee's book.
