Douglas Debecker started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes, Douglas Debecker made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. KFC Uerdingen 05's Vilgot Fransson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to KFC Uerdingen 05 getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Edin Džeko hit a great ball. Jesse Debock received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vilgot Fransson came out and tried to block the shot, but Jesse Debock slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Kris Deckkers hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. The supporters of Limburg United booed when KFC Uerdingen 05 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Thuram didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roland Görmann in the 32nd minute of play forced Limburg United's goalkeeper Julius Vanneste to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 34 minutes, Helmuth Bökelmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Uerdingen 05 and the Limburg United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 34th match minute, KFC Uerdingen 05 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Helmuth Bökelmann to maneuver through the defense. Julius Vanneste showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Helmuth Bökelmann in the 37th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Helmuth Bökelmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edin Džeko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Julius Vanneste tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roland Görmann stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Limburg United's Douglas Debecker got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Roland Görmann scored 2-1 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julius Vanneste, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Roland Görmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julius Vanneste having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Limburg United's zone, Roland Görmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julius Vanneste came out of the goal and Roland Görmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roland Görmann in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julius Vanneste saved Limburg United from getting behind. Limburg United's Julius Vanneste played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edin Džeko in the 71st minute of play. When Andy Michl fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Uerdingen 05's protests and gave Andy Michl a yellow card for diving instead. After 73 played minutes KFC Uerdingen 05 got a freekick which was hit by Andy Michl. 75 minutes into the match, KFC Uerdingen 05's Edin Džeko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julius Vanneste narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 76 played minutes Limburg United got a freekick which was hit by Jesse Debock. When Douglas Debecker came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Limburg United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Douglas Debecker couldn't finish the play. KFC Uerdingen 05's Helmuth Bökelmann got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to KFC Uerdingen 05 getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Marcus Thuram hit a great ball. After 94 minutes, Marcus Thuram mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the KFC Uerdingen 05 and the Limburg United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Douglas Debecker struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Vilgot Fransson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Limburg United. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
