Ubaldo Savion started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Homero Thomson in the 4th minute of play forced Real Sociedad's goalkeeper Sauveur Lisundia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 12 minutes, Lupe Castañeda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Old Boys and the Real Sociedad players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Real Sociedad booed when The Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lupe Castañeda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Libertad Sarmiento struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Joaquin Gudesteo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Sociedad. The The Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gudesteo should have stopped the shot. Libertad Sarmiento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Joaquin Gudesteo made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Libertad Sarmiento in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gudesteo saved The Old Boys from getting behind. In the 32nd minute Real Sociedad were awarded a corner. Hubert Jouniaux went to the cornerflag to take it. Alexandre Hélie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 36 minutes of play, Real Sociedad's Libertad Sarmiento made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin Gudesteo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Libertad Sarmiento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joaquin Gudesteo made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Libertad Sarmiento sent off a good shot on target. 46 minutes into the match, The Old Boys's goalkeeper Joaquin Gudesteo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Libertad Sarmiento. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vicente Millano was the one to do the kick off. Libertad Sarmiento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Libertad Sarmiento made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gudesteo. The Old Boys's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Joaquin Gudesteo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Millano, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Jairo Lizar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sauveur Lisundia having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Black Negro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, The Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Libertad Sarmiento came free, but Joaquin Gudesteo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69thth minute of the game Libertad Sarmiento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Old Boys's Joaquin Gudesteo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Lupe Castañeda was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 71 minutes had been played. In the 75th minute Libertad Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gudesteo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Libertad Sarmiento sped through The Old Boys's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gudesteo. Sauveur Lisundia was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Homero Thomson showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 7-1 in the 84 minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Libertad Sarmiento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-1. Joaquin Gudesteo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 93 minutes into the match, Vicente Millano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin Gudesteo. The Old Boys's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vicente Millano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-1. When the referee ended the match the Real Sociedad players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
