Lisandro Lobo took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Francisco Chabier. Francisco Chabier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Francisco Chabier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lisandro Lobo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Independiente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jacinto Estavan in the 27th minute. Apolo Elequemedo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Francisco Chabier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Sazon in the 33rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nestor Abilio was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Independiente's Lisandro Lobo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Francisco Chabier. Francisco Chabier yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 57th minute Claudio Oskitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Chabier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Imperio Académico getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Alonzo Fero hit a great ball. After 60 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Lisandro Lobo. 63 minutes into the match, Imperio Académico's goalkeeper Francisco Chabier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leo Victoro. Zeledon Sazon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Imperio Académico's Aureliano Quirce was substituted for Alejandro Otsoa. Pastor Bartoli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Abilio in the 71st minute of play. Leo Victoro hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After having played for 73 minutes, Marco Eleazar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imperio Académico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Eleazar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pastor Bartoli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Apolo Elequemedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 77th minute of the match, Claudio Oskitz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Francisco Chabier saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Abilio in the 83rd minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Pastor Bartoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudio Oskitz's late challenge caught a Imperio Académico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Oskitz helped the player get up and apologised. Claudio Oskitz kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Nestor Abilio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
