The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Magallanes were furious when Quintén Darrigrande was red carded, 3 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 3 played minutes Magallanes got a freekick which was hit by Quintén Darrigrande. After 6 played minutes Magallanes got a freekick which was hit by Luis Aravena. Diego Leal hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Hipolito Fritz struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Ilídio Onofre didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Magallanes. A collision led to Magallanes getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Vicent Boonen hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the match, Durval Póvoas notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Magallanes's Isidro Camara. Isidro Camara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ilídio Onofre didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hipolito Fritz went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 37th match minute, VB-Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Saraiva to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute Nuno Saraiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidro Camara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Godofredo Pirazzoli managed to get in a good position for a shot. Magallanes's supporters rose to their feet, but Godofredo Pirazzoli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilídio Onofre breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Isidro Camara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Durval Póvoas in the 43rd minute. After a rather tough play, VB-Team's Nélson Trindade got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute of the match Victoriano Paillemil sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ilídio Onofre skillfully saved the ball. After the first half Magallanes were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Godofredo Pirazzoli made a kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Godofredo Pirazzoli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magallanes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godofredo Pirazzoli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Magallanes's Isidro Camara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durval Póvoas in the 65th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Telmo Bulhosa put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Isidro Camara. Magallanes's Godofredo Pirazzoli got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Aravena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilídio Onofre having to interfere. In the 87th minute, Durval Póvoas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The VB-Team fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durval Póvoas in the 91st minute of play forced Magallanes's goalkeeper Isidro Camara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Magallanes's Luis Johnson got a free kick in the 91st minute. Isidro Camara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Telmo Bulhosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. There was no doubt that VB-Team were the better team. VB-Team's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
