Udinese's Amos Maurizi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celedonio Teofilio in the 2nd minute of play. Ruben Xabel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A.S. Udinese's Amos Maurizi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save A.S. Udinese from getting a goal against them. 19 minutes into the match, A.S. Udinese's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Xabel came free, but Amos Maurizi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ruben Xabel in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amos Maurizi saved A.S. Udinese from getting behind. Amos Maurizi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ruben Xabel in the 21st minute. Ruben Xabel scored 1-0 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amos Maurizi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 24th minute Emilio Dossena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosme Chan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th match minute, A.S. Udinese was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesto Delle Donne to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute of the match Leon Delfino sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amos Maurizi skillfully saved the ball. Cosme Chan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eraldo Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastian Gilen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Amos Maurizi when he managed to save the team from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Silvio Che replaced Fortunato Leggeri. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sebastian Gilen made a kick off.
