The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gualter Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacque Bracke in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Club Brugge's Gerard Elsen seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gerard Elsen the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Club Brugge protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gerard Elsen had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. One of Club Brugge:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Misericordia EC:s goal. Guilian Jannis charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guilian Jannis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Misericordia EC booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guilian Jannis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Giles Valkeneers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Ferraz in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Club Brugge's goalkeeper Giles Valkeneers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Paulo Ferraz. In the 12thth minute of the game Luiz Paulo Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Giles Valkeneers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Jacque Bracke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Misericordia EC's Gualter Luz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Club Brugge's Giles Valkeneers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Club Brugge from getting a goal against them. When Misericordia EC's Luiz Paulo Ferraz in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Brugge's goalie prevented a goal. Club Brugge's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Luiz Paulo Ferraz 22 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 25thth minute of the game Luiz Paulo Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Giles Valkeneers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Guilian Jannis kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 37th minute Caetano Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giles Valkeneers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giles Valkeneers made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Luiz Paulo Ferraz sent off a good shot on target. Club Brugge's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Caetano Mattos scored to the left of an out of position Giles Valkeneers, making the score, 3-0. Thanks to some nice moves Luiz Paulo Ferraz could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Giles Valkeneers however easily saved by the left post. Guilian Jannis kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 46th minute, Luiz Paulo Ferraz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Caetano Mattos might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Giles Valkeneers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Caetano Mattos ran back to his position shaking his head. Luiz Paulo Ferraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Giles Valkeneers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Paulo Ferraz in the 54th minute of play forced Club Brugge's goalkeeper Giles Valkeneers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute, Caetano Mattos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Giles Valkeneers was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. In the 64th minute, Jacque Bracke fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Gualter Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacque Bracke in the 66th minute of the match. In the 71st minute, Rui Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giles Valkeneers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Ferraz in the 73rd minute of play. Club Brugge's Jacque Bracke got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giles Valkeneers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Mello in the 83rd minute of play. Giles Valkeneers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Paulo Ferraz's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Giles Valkeneers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Ferraz in the 87th minute of play. If Jacque Bracke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute, Rui Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giles Valkeneers came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Misericordia EC's Luiz Paulo Ferraz. But to his dismay, Luiz Paulo Ferraz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0.
