The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 15th minute of the match, Luiz Gustavo Braga got a very nice opportunity to score, but István Szabó was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Allan Furlan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. István Szabó came out and tried to block the shot, but Allan Furlan slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 19th minute. Celsinho Vander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dömötör Hoffman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celsinho Vander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferenc Kiprich, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Dömötör Hoffman scored 2-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Celsinho Vander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE's István Szabó proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE from getting a goal against them. István Szabó took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celsinho Vander stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dömötör Hoffman's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Békéscsaba 1912 Előre SE's István Szabó played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Furlan in the 42nd minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Allan Furlan made a kick off. In the 54th minute Humberto Leão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but István Szabó saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was a penalty for AFC - Curitiba! After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Humberto Leão got a free kick in the 69th minute. Ferenc Kiprich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celsinho Vander having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vitório Meira during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Vitório Meira got a free kick in the 74th minute. If Dömötör Hoffman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without István Szabó having to interfere. Humberto Leão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Celsinho Vander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferenc Kiprich in the 95th minute of play. AFC - Curitiba were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
