With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thiago Caniggia in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Victorio Donostia saved ROJO from getting behind. In the 16th match minute, ROJO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Llorian to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Thiago Caniggia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportivo Desamparados's supporters rose to their feet, but Thiago Caniggia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victorio Donostia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Sportivo Desamparados booed when ROJO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Haritz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victorio Donostia was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Thiago Caniggia capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Thiago Caniggia really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Urbano Bittor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thiago Caniggia got free with Victorio Donostia in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thiago Caniggia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Evaristo Abeitia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Victorio Donostia. ROJO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Evaristo Abeitia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 39th minute Marcelo Llorian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damaso Llin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in ROJO's zone, Silvano Ugutz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victorio Donostia came out of the goal and Silvano Ugutz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thiago Caniggia who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Victorio Donostia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

A collision led to Sportivo Desamparados getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Carolo Servando hit a great ball. After 66 played minutes ROJO got a freekick which was hit by Roman Haritz. Victorio Donostia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thiago Caniggia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victorio Donostia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thiago Caniggia's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as ROJO's Urbano Bittor slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Damaso Llin. That made the score 3-1 after 76 minutes of play. 82 minutes into the match, Thiago Caniggia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Victorio Donostia. Victorio Donostia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvano Ugutz in the 95th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the ROJO players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sportivo Desamparados.
