Club Deportivo Diagüita's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Colo-Colo the free kick. In the 17th minute, Asier Sepúlveda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marín Quiñones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ermegildo Duble in the 20th minute of play. After 20 minutes, Gabino Pizarro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Deportivo Diagüita and the Colo-Colo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marín Quiñones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domenico Báez in the 23rd minute of the match. Marín Quiñones came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Colo-Colo's Juan Alfonso Serpa. But to his dismay, Juan Alfonso Serpa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Club Deportivo Diagüita's Marín Quiñones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermegildo Duble in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th minute David Israel Epulef shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marín Quiñones saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Club Deportivo Diagüita's Marín Quiñones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domenico Báez in the 30th minute of play. After 37 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Juan Alfonso Serpa. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Joel Tordesillas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Deportivo Diagüita's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Tordesillas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Salomone Comas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute Domenico Báez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marín Quiñones saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute of the match Ermegildo Duble shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marín Quiñones showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpected shot in the 51st minute by David Israel Epulef got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Juan Alfonso Serpa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Marín Quiñones tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Domenico Báez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Marín Quiñones made a huge save. Club Deportivo Diagüita's Marín Quiñones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermegildo Duble in the 63rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that David Israel Epulef's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marín Quiñones was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Ermegildo Duble could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Marín Quiñones made a huge save. Colo-Colo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
