The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Encanto's goal looked a bit too open when Tião Velasco came free, but Manuel Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jerônimo Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Carlos Augusto Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Augusto Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Vergílio in the 19th minute of the match. If Jerônimo Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Augusto Esteves was a little too slow when Jerônimo Mendes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-0. Norberto Vergílio kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Manuel Vianna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tião Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute, Jerônimo Mendes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jardel Mattos's late challenge caught a Grêmio Imortal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jardel Mattos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Encanto getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Jardel Mattos hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Encanto defense, Tião Velasco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manuel Vianna. The Encanto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manuel Vianna should have stopped the shot.
After a defensive mix-up in Encanto's zone, Tião Velasco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Vianna came out of the goal and Tião Velasco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute, Tião Velasco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Encanto's Jerônimo Mendes in 60 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Carlos Augusto Esteves guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After 70 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Grêmio Imortal! After 75 played minutes Encanto got a freekick which was hit by Jardel Mattos. 76 minutes into the game, Tião Velasco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Manuel Vianna. Tião Velasco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Jerônimo Mendes struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Carlos Augusto Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Encanto. If Jerônimo Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the match, Grêmio Imortal's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo Mendes came free, but Carlos Augusto Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jerônimo Mendes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Augusto Esteves was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Washington Borges kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Encanto's zone, Tião Velasco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Vianna came out of the goal and Tião Velasco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Faustão Corrêa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio Imortal's supporters rose to their feet, but Faustão Corrêa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manuel Vianna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Grêmio Imortal were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
