Silvério Carneiro started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Gonçalo Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Dantas succeeded in the game's 4th minute to get real power on a long shot . Sporting Clube de Gaya's Donato Viana hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-0! After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Ademar Pinto got a free kick in the 18th minute. The supporters of Brasiliense FC booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mustapha Hadji didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Donato Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celsinho Dionísio in the 40th minute of play. Donato Viana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silvério Carneiro in the 45th minute. In the 48th match minute, Brasiliense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juarês Quirino to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Ivaylo Yordanov made the kick off in the second half. Donato Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celsinho Dionísio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th match minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimiro Moutinho to maneuver through the defense. Murilo Vilhena's late challenge caught a Brasiliense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Murilo Vilhena helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Murilo Vilhena hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Silvério Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Salvador Viegas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Pombal having to interfere. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brasiliense FC! The goalkeeper, Luiz Pombal, was totally fooled by Sporting Clube de Gaya's Salvador Viegas, who 90 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 98 minutes, Iuri Coelho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brasiliense FC and the Sporting Clube de Gaya players grew even worse after the yellow card.
