Pavlos Fanidis charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pavlos Fanidis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Olympiacos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pavlos Fanidis to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Arturo Baraquiel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Unidad de Matanza's supporters rose to their feet, but Arturo Baraquiel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eustratios Vertsotis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Markos Kareklopoulos during the 26th minute. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Cornelio Pueblo as he didn't even see the shot coming. After a defensive mix-up in Olympiacos FC's zone, Gerardo Inko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eustratios Vertsotis came out of the goal and Gerardo Inko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidro Fero in the 39th minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Eustratios Vertsotis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cornelio Pueblo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Notis Trontzos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eustratios Vertsotis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arturo Baraquiel in the 43rd minute of play.

Olympiacos FC's Miltiadis Tsiranidis was substituted for Lazaros Tsakrilis. Olympiacos FC's Panos Loukas was substituted for Panos Papathomas. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arturo Baraquiel to strike the kick off in the second half. When Arturo Baraquiel came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Unidad de Matanza fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arturo Baraquiel couldn't finish the play. Gerardo Inko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Hipolito Cordario came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Unidad de Matanza fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hipolito Cordario couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute Leo Nerio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eustratios Vertsotis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Panos Loukas fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympiacos FC's protests and gave Panos Loukas a yellow card for diving instead. Epifanio Primo's shot from long distance in the 91st minute was not bad at all, but Olympiacos FC's Eustratios Vertsotis knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. 96 minutes into the match, Unidad de Matanza's goal looked a bit too open when Avraam Chalkias came free, but Cornelio Pueblo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cornelio Pueblo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Avraam Chalkias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
