With his leg Chicão Oliveira managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Atlético Micaelense's Jordão Bacelar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Atlético Micaelense's José Madruga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafa Borre in the 26th minute of play. Jordão Bacelar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Chicão Oliveira made a huge save. 29 minutes into the match, Trindade Atlético Club's goal looked a bit too open when Jordão Bacelar came free, but Chicão Oliveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 29 minutes on the clock, Indio Colorado commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The goalkeeper, Chicão Oliveira, was totally fooled by Atlético Micaelense's Mário Ferraz, who 30 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Kiko Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trindade Atlético Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Kiko Cearense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Madruga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jordão Bacelar struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Chicão Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Micaelense. Carlos Veiga's late challenge caught a Atlético Micaelense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Veiga helped the player get up and apologised. Mário Ferraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Chicão Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jordão Bacelar might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chicão Oliveira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jordão Bacelar ran back to his position shaking his head. Kiko Cearense might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Madruga. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kiko Cearense to strike the kick off in the second half. Eliseu de Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 74 played minutes Trindade Atlético Club got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho da Cunha. In the 76th minute of the match Gastão Montenegro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chicão Oliveira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Chicão Oliveira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jordão Bacelar's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 81st minute of the game. One of Atlético Micaelense:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Trindade Atlético Club:s goal. In the 85thth minute of the game Jordão Bacelar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Trindade Atlético Club's Chicão Oliveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Paulo-Roberto Falcão's late challenge caught a Atlético Micaelense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jordão Bacelar couldn't finish the play. Trindade Atlético Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
