Duško Turnšek started the match with the kick off. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when DINAMO PLOIESTI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petrică Paraschiv didn't get a good kick on the ball. DINAMO PLOIESTI's Mihai Bacalu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Istok Šabotić in the 6th minute of play. Mihai Bacalu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mitar Čebulj in the 9th minute of play. Sebastian Orășan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 13 minutes, Sebastian Orășan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. DINAMO PLOIESTI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Orășan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 15 played minutes DINAMO PLOIESTI got a freekick which was hit by Gică Vulcan. After 18 played minutes DINAMO PLOIESTI got a freekick which was hit by Gică Vulcan. After a defensive mix-up in HIT Gorica's zone, Irinel Crainic stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lan Šorli came out of the goal and Irinel Crainic tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to HIT Gorica getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Mitar Čebulj hit a great ball. Lan Šorli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Orășan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mihai Bacalu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Istok Šabotić, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by HIT Gorica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gică Vulcan was slow to take the kick. During this time DINAMO PLOIESTI's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on DINAMO PLOIESTI's corner Gică Vulcan fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lan Šorli quite easily take care of the ball. Sebastian Orășan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lan Šorli having to interfere. A hard shot 45 in the game by Irinel Crainic from a close distance when the talented Lan Šorli managed to make a qualified save. HIT Gorica's players were relieved. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sebastian Orășan made a kick off. When Petrică Paraschiv fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DINAMO PLOIESTI's protests and gave Petrică Paraschiv a yellow card for diving instead.
