Spectators: 8053 (Terracing: 6041, Seating: 1852, VIP seats: 160) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Egídio Vaz started the match with the kick off. Alfredo Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cléberson Varela in the 4th minute of the match. A collision led to Nova Era getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Vito Freire hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Erasmo Santana got a free kick in the 7th minute. Nova Era's Ivo Silva shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 8th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dida Frangopoulos but with some difficulty. Alfredo Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Barros in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Pedro Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Nova Era booed when INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vito Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Frangopoulos having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Nova Era's Vito Freire slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dida Frangopoulos. That made the score 1-0 after 24 minutes of play. In the 28th minute Elói Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasmo Santana's late challenge caught a Nova Era's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erasmo Santana helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Erasmo Santana got a free kick in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Didi Vergílio in the 31st minute of play forced INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goalkeeper Dida Frangopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Macedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elói Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Nova Era getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Pedro Coutinho hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Nova Era's Jailson Leão got a free kick in the 40th minute. After a rather tough play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Frank Linhares got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erasmo Santana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vito Freire took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dida Frangopoulos. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 64th match minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dalmo Rossi to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th minute of the match Vito Freire shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dida Frangopoulos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, Nova Era's Alfredo Macedo got control of the ball when Erasmo Santana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pedro Coutinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Dida Frangopoulos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 82 played minutes Nova Era got a freekick which was hit by Vito Freire. In the 86th minute Elói Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nova Era's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cléberson Varela was slow to take the kick. During this time INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's players had a chance to rest. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Cléberson Varela was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alfredo Macedo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With his leg Alfredo Macedo managed to avoid a goal in the 90thth minute, when INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Erasmo Santana fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Erasmo Santana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredo Macedo having to make a save. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when Nova Era was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
