Abel Gay struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Brent Daigle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES. Brent Daigle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Gay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Sport Lisboa e Benfica booed when 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Brent Daigle tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 41 minutes into the game, Mantzio Berges was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Lisboa e Benfica the free kick. After 43 played minutes Sport Lisboa e Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Rueben Rosas. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mario Gleason stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Berbiz Iruz came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Mario Gleason. But to his dismay, Mario Gleason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Sanford Descoteaux charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sanford Descoteaux the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd match minute, Sport Lisboa e Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sanford Descoteaux to maneuver through the defense. After 65 played minutes Sport Lisboa e Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Maldonado. Brent Daigle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Gay, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abel Gay in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Brent Daigle saved Sport Lisboa e Benfica from getting behind. 79 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Gay came free, but Brent Daigle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES's Abel Gay slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Brent Daigle. That made the score 1-2 after 81 minutes of play. When Luzea Pedrero fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES's protests and gave Luzea Pedrero a yellow card for diving instead. After 85 played minutes 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES got a freekick which was hit by Luzea Pedrero. After a rather tough play, 1SIEMPRE BLANQUIAZULES's Martin Amenedo got a free kick in the 94th minute. After 95 played minutes Sport Lisboa e Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Sanford Descoteaux. Victor Hugo Gay scored 1-3 in the 98th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brent Daigle, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
