After 20 minutes, Adolfo Leobardo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MORPH and the Pajala Sunrise players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th match minute, MORPH was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adolfo Leobardo to maneuver through the defense. If Emanuel Turi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niaz Njoom's late challenge caught a MORPH's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 39 played minutes, MORPH's Gustavo-Hernán Aliendro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Daniel Hök came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MORPH reached it. In the 46th minute Gýmir Gryc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelio Irrintzi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gustavo-Hernán Colidio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 53rd minute of the match Niaz Njoom completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Niaz Njoom a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game.
