In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Mats Sangolt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 16th minute, Aírton Sousa made a precise shot to the right of Mats Sangolt. Floriana Celtics's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 62 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Falcão de Godoi. 63 minutes into the match, Floriana Celtics's goalkeeper Mats Sangolt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matheus Neto. Floriana Celtics's Samuel Lentini got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyle Thake in the 71st minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mats Sangolt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aírton Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Floriana Celtics were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
