Nicolas Romero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Santo Casillas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Santo Casillas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominik Piglowski in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute 余义枫 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuri Loureiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Atlético Minuano's goalie and right to Daniel Green. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Atlético Minuano's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dominik Piglowski was the one to do the kick off.
