Stars's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New England Patriots the free kick. Claudinei Damião kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Gerrit Hardering made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Adam Seng sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jonathan Siong in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gerrit Hardering saved New England Patriots from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wen Ke Yan in the 11th minute of play forced New England Patriots's goalkeeper Gerrit Hardering to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Augusto Coelho's late challenge caught a Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Augusto Coelho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 13th minute, João Augusto Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the game, one of New England Patriots:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. New England Patriots:s Gerrit Hardering showed great skill when he stopped Adam Seng:s penalty. After a rather tough play, New England Patriots's Didi Castro got a free kick in the 17th minute. The audience was convinced that Jonathan Siong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerrit Hardering was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 20th minute Stars were awarded a corner. Claudinei Damião went to the cornerflag to take it. New England Patriots's Gerrit Hardering proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save New England Patriots from getting a goal against them. With his leg Gerrit Hardering managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Stars's Jonathan Siong fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Stars's zone, Genílson Sabóia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Muhammad Chan came out of the goal and Genílson Sabóia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 35 minutes, Adam Seng mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stars and the New England Patriots players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of New England Patriots booed when Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adam Seng didn't get a good kick on the ball. Muhammad Chan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrés D'Alessandro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Mikael Månsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Adam Seng came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Stars fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adam Seng couldn't finish the play. With his leg Gerrit Hardering managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Stars's Wen Ke Yan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wen Ke Yan had several of the New England Patriots's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 44 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Gerrit Hardering as he didn't even see the shot coming. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jonathan Siong to make the kick off. Gerrit Hardering made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wen Ke Yan in the 50th minute of play. When Stars's Jonathan Siong in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Gerrit Hardering made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Siong in the 59th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Wen Ke Yan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stars's supporters rose to their feet, but Wen Ke Yan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerrit Hardering breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gerrit Hardering came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Stars's Mikael Månsson. But to his dismay, Mikael Månsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. After 70 played minutes Stars got a freekick which was hit by Lucio Urki. With a little luck, Stars's Muhammad Chan got control of the ball when Celsinho de Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, New England Patriots's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Siong came free, but Gerrit Hardering reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. New England Patriots's Gerrit Hardering played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rudy Chandran in the 76th minute of play. In the 80th minute Wen Ke Yan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerrit Hardering saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Siong in the 81st minute of play forced New England Patriots's goalkeeper Gerrit Hardering to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stars's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Claudinei Damião in the 92nd minute.
