The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Patrick Sandström the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Gurdurão protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Patrick Sandström had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gurdurão fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! 38 minutes into the match, Gurdurão's goal looked a bit too open when Maximino Lope came free, but Marcel Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Armando Inautzi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th match minute, El retorno del Pincha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulises Crispo to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

El retorno del Pincha's Sven Thorsberg was substituted for Maximino Lope. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven Thorsberg to make the kick off. El retorno del Pincha's André Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrão Mala in the 55th minute of play. Marcel Amaral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. André Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustão Proença, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Thorsberg in the 87th minute of play forced Gurdurão's goalkeeper Marcel Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Elton Titos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gurdurão's supporters rose to their feet, but Elton Titos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Zonta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gurdurão made a substitution. Silvinho Mesquita replaced Faustão Proença. When the referee blew the final whistle, El retorno del Pincha could leave the field as winners, despite Gurdurão having more of the ball for most of the match.
