Vergil Rupov got in the 18th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Axell Verduin handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. FC Gullegem's Jonathan Vrijdag quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Alfons Rijniers, made in the 25th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Genk defense, Barnaba Pilsudski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jannes Van Leempoel. The Genk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jannes Van Leempoel should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the match, FC Gullegem's goal looked a bit too open when Rain De Hond came free, but Axell Verduin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Suat Kaya heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 41 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Pieter Teurfs came free, but Jannes Van Leempoel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Gullegem made a substitution. Waut Du Molin replaced Emanuel De Roest. The supporters of FC Gullegem booed when Genk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loui Wouqier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Barnaba Pilsudski made a kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Tony Mampaerts in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Gullegem's Pierre-Paul Callaerts. In the 54th minute Barnaba Pilsudski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannes Van Leempoel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th match minute, FC Gullegem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Vrijdag to maneuver through the defense. Axell Verduin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Suat Kaya in the 61st minute. 67 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Barnaba Pilsudski came free, but Jannes Van Leempoel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
