AEK S.C's Thanasis Koltsidas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexander Klemensson in the 22nd minute of play. Aníbal Lima hit a great ball. 27 minutes into the match, AEK S.C's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Klemensson came free, but Thanasis Koltsidas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanasis Koltsidas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Suat Kaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Alfons Rijniers ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thalis Krommidas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Jannes Van Leempoel made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thalis Krommidas got free with Jannes Van Leempoel in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jannes Van Leempoel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thalis Krommidas in the 43rd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thalis Krommidas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
