An unexpectedly hard shot by Dobromir Juchno in the 18th minute of play forced Surahammar's goalkeeper Carl Engström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carl Engström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dobromir Juchno, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. A collision led to Surahammar getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Vincent Benett hit a great ball. After 42 minutes, Adam Byk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gocław Wilga Warszawa and the Surahammar players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. Ovidiu Cosâmbescu had in the 44thth minute some difficulties stopping Billy Fristedt's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Victor Santxol got free with Ovidiu Cosâmbescu in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
