When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Abel Mazza put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Torcato Bentes. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Jiang Li Kang sped through Garanhão do SUL's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Torcato Bentes. In the 15th minute of the match, Cláudio Balsemão tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Andoni Zubizarreta saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience was convinced that Jiang Li Kang's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Torcato Bentes was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. When Spams's Jiang Li Kang in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Spams's Jiang Li Kang got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Jiang Li Kang ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Torcato Bentes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jiang Li Kang in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Torcato Bentes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Garanhão do SUL's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Agustin Donio was slow to take the kick. During this time Spams's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Spams's Tiago Gabriel Hajs getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 35th match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusébio Mesquita to maneuver through the defense. Garanhão do SUL's Torcato Bentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jiang Li Kang in the 37th minute of play. Torcato Bentes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jiang Li Kang, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Abel Mazza notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Garanhão do SUL's Torcato Bentes. Torcato Bentes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-7 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cláudio Balsemão to make the kick off. Torcato Bentes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Chinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto Domingues hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. 58 minutes in the game, Ernesto Chinto fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Torcato Bentes having to interfere. Ernesto Chinto received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Torcato Bentes came out and tried to block the shot, but Ernesto Chinto slotted it home off the left post making it 0-9 in the 61st minute. Ernesto Chinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Spams fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Spams's Ernesto Chinto looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-10 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 69 minutes, Ernesto Chinto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spams's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernesto Chinto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Garanhão do SUL made a substitution. Catarino Macena replaced Cláudio Balsemão. Ernesto Chinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 73 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Chinto came free, but Torcato Bentes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Ernesto Chinto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Torcato Bentes, 0-11. Gaston Caetano struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Torcato Bentes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spams. Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ernesto Chinto 81 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-12. Torcato Bentes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ernesto Chinto showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-13 in the 84 minute of play. Torcato Bentes came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Spams's Ernesto Chinto. But to his dismay, Ernesto Chinto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-14. Herberto Trigueiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cássio Portugal charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Portugal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Portugal to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 94 minutes, Ernesto Chinto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spams's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernesto Chinto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Ernesto Chinto came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Spams fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernesto Chinto couldn't finish the play.
