The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Manuel Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Pepe Yates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pepe Yates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Abelado Arredondo kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Fredy Montero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Yates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Fredy Montero sped through Inter de Chillán's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pepe Yates. Manuel Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Pepe Yates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Manuel Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 29th minute of play forced Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Pepe Yates to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 31 minutes of play, Inter de Chillán's Giuseppe Meazza made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. António Trubin was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pepe Yates made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fredy Montero in the 34th minute of play. After 37 minutes, Manuel Porto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting Clube de Gaya and the Inter de Chillán players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fredy Montero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Yates having to interfere. Sporting Clube de Gaya's António Trubin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giuseppe Meazza in the 43rd minute of play. Fredy Montero's late challenge caught a Inter de Chillán's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fredy Montero helped the player get up and apologised. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Aparício Silveira was substituted for Ali Berkant Gülen. After 48 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Fredy Montero.

Pepe Yates showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Lisboa in the 52nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Clube de Gaya's zone, Giuseppe Meazza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. António Trubin came out of the goal and Giuseppe Meazza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fredy Montero's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pepe Yates firmly grabbed it by the left post. 62 minutes into the game, Steve Vaid was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Inter de Chillán's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting Clube de Gaya the free kick. Steve Vaid hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Inter de Chillán's Ronaldo Nazário De Lima was substituted for Adán Mendizabal. A collision led to Inter de Chillán getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Steve Vaid hit a great ball. Pepe Yates made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fredy Montero in the 64th minute. The Inter de Chillán fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After 91 played minutes, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Sabino Manso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pepe Yates came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting Clube de Gaya reached it. António Trubin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Valdivia in the 93rd minute of the match. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
