Geovani Berger charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Caetano Santana was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Inácio das Neves. Zeca Torres hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute, João Francisco Eger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Marcel Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independente FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Mendes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caetano Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 41 minutes into the match, Ferreira Lopes MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos de Azevedo came free, but Caetano Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caetano Santana was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Zé Carlos de Azevedo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zé Carlos de Azevedo really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ezequiel Prata made a kick off. Caetano Santana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Independente FC had won after a very even match.
