LOI's Vahdet Uçanok played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gigi Bobei in the 24th minute of play. Valer Onișoru stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oğuzer Tun's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Gigi Bobei slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vahdet Uçanok. That made the score 1-0 after 33 minutes of play. When LOI's Çeliker İnanç in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalie prevented a goal.

The supporters of LOI booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silver Phoenix didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iulian Stroe's late challenge caught a LOI's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. LOI's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Codruț Macaneață was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the LOI players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca.
