The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Miguel Pimenta charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Miguel Pimenta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 9th minute of play forced Playa Malvín's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fred Åkerström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reko Nybacka having to make a save. 14 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Åkerström came free, but Reko Nybacka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Gonzalo Castro made a precise shot to the right of Reko Nybacka. Catugi FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. A collision led to Catugi FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Ernesto de Amaral hit a great ball. After 26 minutes of play, Playa Malvín's Fred Åkerström made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Reko Nybacka was left in no man's land by his defense there! Reko Nybacka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Åkerström in the 32nd minute of play. After the first half Playa Malvín were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Soares made a kick off. In the 57th minute Playa Malvín were awarded a corner. Sandu Mândrilă went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Zuberoa Artiaga got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 0-4. 57 minutes into the match. In the 64th minute Fred Åkerström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reko Nybacka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Valladares kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Playa Malvín made a substitution. Niva Espellosa replaced Fred Åkerström. Playa Malvín made a substitution. In the 80th minute of the match Playa Malvín got a corner. Catugi FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sesuldo Roque ran over to the corner to take the kick. 84 minutes into the match, Playa Malvín's Niva Espellosa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Reko Nybacka narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gonzalo Castro came free with the goalkeeper in the 91st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Reko Nybacka could save by the left post. If Niva Espellosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 95th match minute, Catugi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Sanches to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Playa Malvín had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
