Artur Senna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jay Jowsey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match SRP-Laguna got a corner. Attard Gunners's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leandro Figueiredo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led SRP-Laguna's Rafael Furtado to fire away a dangerous shot which Jay Jowsey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 16th minute, Artur Senna left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SRP-Laguna fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 31 minutes into the match, Artur Senna notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Attard Gunners's Jay Jowsey. Jay Jowsey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With an all-out effort, SRP-Laguna's Jay Jowsey threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Artur Senna, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. SRP-Laguna's Válbson Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergen Sergen in the 39th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Leandro Figueiredo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jay Jowsey quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Artur Senna hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Attard Gunners defense, Artur Senna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jay Jowsey. The Attard Gunners fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jay Jowsey should have stopped the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Artur Senna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sergen Sergen received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Válbson Cunha came out and tried to block the shot, but Sergen Sergen slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 54th minute. Attard Gunners's Jay Jowsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Senna in the 57th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Noel Buhagiar in the 58th minute of play forced SRP-Laguna's goalkeeper Válbson Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Louis Naudi came free with the goalkeeper in the 60th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Válbson Cunha could save by the left post. In the 61st minute Sergen Sergen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Válbson Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to SRP-Laguna getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Rafael Furtado hit a great ball. In the 70th minute Artur Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jay Jowsey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Artur Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SRP-Laguna made a substitution. Jay Jowsey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. Jay Jowsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xu Le Shu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alan Said got free with Válbson Cunha in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. For all the effort they put into the match, the Attard Gunners players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SRP-Laguna.
