Gerd-Peter Meiswinkel came out of the goal and Váldson Dante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the game, Min Son recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gerd-Peter Meiswinkel. Min Son showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. If Takeshi Schims had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gerd-Peter Meiswinkel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ramon Menezes in the 20th minute. Valadas's Takeshi Schims got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Xv de Piracicaba's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hermínio Bomba was slow to take the kick. During this time Valadas's players had a chance to rest. Ramon Menezes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Gerd-Peter Meiswinkel made a huge save. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
