Iurie Bănățeanu started the match with the kick off. Basarab Secoşan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iurie Poplăcan in the 8th minute of the match. In the 8th minute Iurie Poplăcan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basarab Secoşan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Iurie Poplăcan got a free kick in the 11th minute. Basarab Secoşan made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Codruț Macaneață sent off a good shot on target. Valer Onișoru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bogdan Paveliuc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca defense, Bogdan Paveliuc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valer Onișoru. The PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valer Onișoru should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorin Nebunu in the 25th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Valer Onișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Moise Ţurlău notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC Cosula-BTF-'s Basarab Secoşan. Basarab Secoşan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorin Nebunu in the 31st minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Valer Onișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Cosula-BTF-! FC Cosula-BTF-:s Basarab Secoşan showed great skill when he stopped Iulian Stroe:s penalty. The audience was convinced that Dorin Nebunu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valer Onișoru was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Leontin Titulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Leontin Titulescu put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, FC Cosula-BTF-'s Aurelian Giurcă got a free kick in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moise Ţurlău in the 63rd minute of play forced FC Cosula-BTF-'s goalkeeper Basarab Secoşan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Codruț Macaneață fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave Codruț Macaneață a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th minute, FC Cosula-BTF-'s Bogdan Paveliuc dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Basarab Secoşan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Bănățeanu in the 70th minute of play. 72 minutes into the game, Gabriel Arsene was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Cosula-BTF-'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca the free kick. In the 73rd match minute, FC Cosula-BTF- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Arsene to maneuver through the defense. Valer Onișoru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bogdan Paveliuc in the 79th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Valer Onișoru had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Hosu. The FC Cosula-BTF- supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Cosula-BTF- would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
