The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Edgard Bertassi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute, Lukáš Modrić made a precise shot to the right of David Reitan. Åsnes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After 14 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin Buvarp. After 24 minutes of play, Åsnes's Benjamin Buvarp made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelo Gröhe was left in no man's land by his defense there! David Reitan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lukáš Modrić's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. After 28 minutes Åsnes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wanderson Souto who took care of the corner kick. Independente FC's Wanderson Souto was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but David Reitan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 29 minutes into the game, Independente FC's Francisco Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Reitan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. David Reitan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubinho Severo in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lukáš Modrić in the 34th minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper David Reitan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cato Haglund hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lukáš Modrić to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Åsnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jon-Egil Gjelsvik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Gröhe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl Zahl, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Zahl in the 56th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Gröhe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Francisco Toledo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of David Reitan, 1-5. In the 61st match minute, Independente FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Gustavo Brasil to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute Karl Zahl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Gröhe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jon-Egil Gjelsvik fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Åsnes's protests and gave Jon-Egil Gjelsvik a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th match minute, Åsnes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon-Egil Gjelsvik to maneuver through the defense. When Kim Alnes fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Åsnes's protests and gave Kim Alnes a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Kim Alnes. 67 minutes into the match, Rubinho Severo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of David Reitan, 1-6. Åsnes's David Reitan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubinho Severo in the 72nd minute of play. Endre Svensen hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Lukáš Modrić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Lukáš Modrić had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Reitan. Åsnes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lukáš Modrić was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. David Reitan was a little too slow when Rubinho Severo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 1-8. After 86 minutes, Kenneth Hanssen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Åsnes and the Independente FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Åsnes getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Kenneth Hanssen hit a great ball. With a little luck, Åsnes's David Reitan got control of the ball when Wanderson Souto tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Zahl in the 88th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Gröhe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rubinho Severo's late challenge caught a Åsnes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rubinho Severo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Åsnes booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubinho Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lukáš Modrić succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-9 in the 92nd playminute. When the final whistle sounded Independente FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Åsnes.
