When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Gil Cearense sped through AFK Petržalka's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Filip Garaj. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Cearense in the 14th minute of play forced AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Filip Garaj to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Filip Garaj made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gil Cearense in the 17th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Cearense came free, but Filip Garaj reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Fossum in the 20th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Caco Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gil Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filip Garaj having to interfere. Filip Garaj took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gil Cearense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Martin Fossum notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo. Caco Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Martin Fossum's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. In the 42ndth minute of the game Gil Cearense who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFK Petržalka's Filip Garaj was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Ryszard Iwanowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Martin Fossum might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caco Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Martin Fossum ran back to his position shaking his head. Martin Fossum could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Caco Azevedo made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Fossum got free with Caco Azevedo in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gil Cearense made a kick off. Válbson Machado hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SORRISO E. C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
