Dragolyub Shterev hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Roman Kurdov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anatoly Karpov in the 10th minute of play. Roman Kurdov made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Anatoly Karpov sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anatoly Karpov in the 17th minute of play forced Galatasaray SK's goalkeeper Roman Kurdov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roman Kurdov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After recieving a nice pass, Джуджан's Ventzislav Mutafchiyski tried to score from far away in the 26th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Roman Kurdov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Velko Tuchev in the 27th minute. After 32 minutes, Hristo Florov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Джуджан and the Galatasaray SK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, one of Джуджан:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Джуджан. Anatoly Karpov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Roman Kurdov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Galatasaray SK defense, Ventzislav Mutafchiyski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roman Kurdov. The Galatasaray SK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roman Kurdov should have stopped the shot. Koldo Baltanas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Roman Kurdov skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Velko Tuchev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Galatasaray SK's Borimir Magerov got a free kick in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Джуджан's Ventzislav Mutafchiyski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roman Kurdov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anatoly Karpov was the one to do the kick off. Anatoly Karpov took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roman Kurdov. Roman Kurdov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. In the 56th minute, Koldo Baltanas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roman Kurdov was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-1. Roman Kurdov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anatoly Karpov's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Anatoly Karpov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roman Kurdov. Galatasaray SK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anatoly Karpov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-1. After some careless play in the Galatasaray SK defense, Anatoly Karpov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roman Kurdov. The Galatasaray SK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roman Kurdov should have stopped the shot. Roman Kurdov came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Джуджан's Anatoly Karpov. But to his dismay, Anatoly Karpov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 10-1. Джуджан's Ulryk Robak was substituted for Koldo Baltanas. Ulryk Robak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 73 minutes into the game, Джуджан's Anatoly Karpov nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roman Kurdov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 12-1. 76 minutes into the game, Ulryk Robak cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 13-1. Roman Kurdov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ulryk Robak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Anatoly Karpov put it in 16-1 from a short distance just to the right of Roman Kurdov. In the 96th minute, Ulryk Robak made a precise shot to the right of Roman Kurdov. Galatasaray SK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 18-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Джуджан had played much better football throughout.
