An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauricio Tano in the 25th minute of play forced Azerbaijan's goalkeeper Mänsur Rzayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mänsur Rzayev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mauricio Tano's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aqil Mövsümov got free with Ask Stamnes in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Şair Baloğlanov in the 31st minute of play forced Boulogne F.C.'s goalkeeper Ask Stamnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Boulogne F.C.'s Donato Trentini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mänsur Rzayev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Azerbaijan booed when Boulogne F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mänsur Rzayev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boulogne F.C.. In the 45th match minute, Boulogne F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benicio Rios to maneuver through the defense.

Azerbaijan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gündüz Haqverdiyev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Azerbaijan's goal looked a bit too open when Mauricio Tano came free, but Mänsur Rzayev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gündüz Haqverdiyev during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Azerbaijan getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Gündüz Haqverdiyev hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, Boulogne F.C.'s Mauricio Tano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mänsur Rzayev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 81st match minute, Azerbaijan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şair Baloğlanov to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th minute, Boulogne F.C.'s Mauricio Tano ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mänsur Rzayev. Mänsur Rzayev yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. When the final whistle sounded Boulogne F.C. left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Azerbaijan.
