Martyon Diehl made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Wes Nichols sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Boroondara Milan's Martyon Diehl got control of the ball when Wes Nichols tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nacho Gonzalez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paco Everett's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Recolta Alamor's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ned Mills was slow to take the kick. During this time Boroondara Milan's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Boroondara Milan's corner Carlisle Fenwick fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nacho Gonzalez quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damian Dean in the 16th minute of play forced Boroondara Milan's goalkeeper Martyon Diehl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nacho Gonzalez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paco Everett in the 17th minute of play. Damian Dean ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Recolta Alamor's Damian Dean to a score. 1-0 in the 43rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlisle Fenwick to make the kick off. Martyon Diehl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Dean in the 52nd minute of the match. Boroondara Milan's Martyon Diehl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wes Nichols in the 54th minute of play. Martyon Diehl made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1.
