In the 15th minute Andriy Shevchenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ergo Muro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niceto Ihazintu in the 16th minute of play forced A.D Leônico's goalkeeper Dagoberto Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When João Carlos Medeiros fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.D Leônico's protests and gave João Carlos Medeiros a yellow card for diving instead. After 25 played minutes A.D Leônico got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Medeiros. Dagoberto Veiga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niceto Ihazintu in the 35th minute. After having played for 39 minutes, Vatan Kambay managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.D Leônico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vatan Kambay was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ergo Muro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vatan Kambay in the 44th minute of the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Vatan Kambay made the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Caatiba MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Vatan Kambay came free, but Ergo Muro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuno Mattos in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dagoberto Veiga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 86th minute of the match Caatiba MZC got a corner. A.D Leônico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The Caatiba MZC fans cheered their team off the field, for while A.D Leônico had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
